University of Córdoba
Senior Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting. Her research deals with legal translation, agri-food and labelling translation, and multimodality applied to specialised translation.
Gisella Policastro Ponce is a Senior Lecturer on the degree in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Córdoba. She also teaches on the master’s degree in Institutional Translation at the University of Alicante and on the master’s degree in Specialised Translation at the University of Córdoba. She collaborates with the GIUV2013-151 “Histradcyt” research group at the Universitat de València and is a member of the Language and Science Thematic Network and of the International Research Network in Specialised Translation and Interpreting (RIITEI).
Her research focuses on the translation of legal discourse, which has resulted in a number of publications, mainly on comparative law. Another significant area of her research is scientific and technical translation, particularly the agri-food sector and the translation of labelling, which produced the monograph Traducción del etiquetado del vino: De la teoría a la práctica (2023), published by Comares. Throughout her research career she has also explored in depth the concept of “multimodality” in relation to translation and terminology, examining its application across a wide range of specialised fields (tourism, technical, agri-food, biomedical and lexicographic). Her work further covers public service interpreting and linguistic and intercultural mediation.
