The HUM-1108 TRADIES research group at the University of Córdoba, affiliated with the Andalusian Institute for Research and Innovation in Tourism (IATUR), is a leading name in Tourism Translation, Tourism Discourse and Heritage thanks to its organisation of the TRADITUR International Conference (whose fifth edition will be held in 2027). TRADITUR is a pioneering conference internationally in this field: each edition brings speakers from around the world to the city of the Caliphate to discuss translation, tourism and heritage. TRADIES has promoted numerous publications on translation and tourism in leading journals and publishing houses — special issues, articles and book chapters alike — works that are cited by the most prestigious researchers in the field.
TRADIES has also led teaching innovation projects on training in tourism translation, such as “TRANSLATUR: A Portal on Translation Studies and Tourism”, as well as knowledge-transfer and innovation projects such as “TRANSLARTE: translating the artistic and cultural heritage of the Círculo de la Amistad in Córdoba”. This collaboration recently resulted in the publication by Almuzara of the French and English translation of the collection guide “Las artes plásticas en el Círculo de la Amistad”, by Roberto Carlos Roldán Velasco.
The group’s coordinator, Manuela Álvarez, also co-edits the series “Discurso, turismo y traducción / Discourse, Tourism and Translation” with María Vittoria Calvi and Giovanna Mapelli of the University of Milan, published by the prestigious Peter Lang, whose first two volumes are due out shortly.
The TRADIES group is currently engaged in a compelling project on Heritage and Translation in partnership with the Cathedral Chapter of Córdoba.
