María Sagrario del Río Zamudio is a tenured researcher (ricercatrice confermata) in Spanish Language and Translation at the Università di Udine. She has written various essays on self-translation and on literary and specialised translation, and has also given lectures,
seminars and workshops on these subjects. She has worked and continues to work as subtitling supervisor (Spanish–Italian) for the Ibero-Latin American Film Festival in Trieste. For some thirty years she was a translator for the journal Ciudad y Territorio.
Estudios Territoriales (CyTET). She has translated for the publishers Cátedra and Gredos (Italian–Spanish), and translated Benito Pérez Galdós’s dialogue novel Realidad/Realtà (Spanish–Italian) for the publisher Isidora. From 2024 to 2026 she serves on the board of the Iberian Association of Translation and Interpreting Studies (AIETI).
